The Government of Karnataka, on April 29, 2026, issued the Draft Karnataka Excise (Manufacture of Fortified Wine from Grapes) (Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Karnataka Excise (Manufacture of Fortified Wine from Grapes) Rules, 1968.
The following has been stated:-
•A new Rule 7-A has been inserted, which allows fortified winery licensees to carry out bottling and dispatch operations 24 hours a day.
•The Deputy Commissioner of Excise is required to ensure adequate staff arrangements for supervision.
Any objections or suggestions may be submitted within seven days.
