The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on March 19, 2026, issued a notification regarding the review of implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Used Oil and the submission of the Action Taken Report.
The following has been stated:-
•CPCB has directed States/UTs to expedite verification and compliance under the Used Oil Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework introduced under the 2023 Hazardous Waste Amendment Rules.
•The Used Oil EPR Portal was developed for nationwide implementation on April 01, 2024.
•Authorities have been asked to identify unregistered or illegal recyclers and ensure proper onboarding and verification of recyclers and collection agents.
•Registered recyclers are also required to generate and transfer EPR certificates through the CPCB portal, failing which action may be initiated against them.
