Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on April 30, 2026, issued the Policy for Exemption from Film Certification.

The following has been stated:-

•The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has introduced a standardized process for granting certification exemptions to Indian and foreign films shown at non-commercial film festivals.

•Mandatory checklists, appendices, and prescribed formats must now be followed to avoid delays and rejection of incomplete applications.

•Festival organizers are required to submit detailed film information, synopses, and preview committee reports within the specified timelines.

•The independent preview committee must include at least one female member to ensure balanced evaluation.

•Exemptions will only apply to screenings restricted to registered delegates, with no public ticket sales permitted.
