The Department of Environment, Govt. of Delhi on May 06, 2026, notified regarding the revised Environment Compensation Charge on Commercial Vehicles from April 2026.
The following has been stated:
• It has revised the Environment Compensation Charge (ECC) applicable on Delhi-bound commercial vehicles pursuant to the March 12, 2026, order of the Supreme Court of India in the M.C. Mehta v. Union of India matter and recommendations of the Commission for Air Quality Management.
• Under the revised structure, ECC for Category 2 (Light Duty Vehicles) and Category 3 (2-Axle Trucks) has been increased from ₹1,400 to ₹2,000, while ECC for Category 4 (3-Axle Trucks) and Category 5 (4-Axle and above Trucks) has been increased from ₹2,600 to ₹4,000. The revised rates are effective from April 01, 2026, and will further increase annually by 5%, rounded off to the nearest ₹10.
• The notification also states that implementation, collection and enforcement of the revised ECC rates will be carried out by the concerned authorities in line with Supreme Court directions and CAQM recommendations.
