The Government of Chhattisgarh on April 20, 2026, issued revision of Minimum Wages (Including VDA) for Contingency Fund Employees in Chhattisgarh (April 1, 2026 – September 30, 2026).
The Labour Commissioner, Chhattisgarh has notified revised minimum wage rates (inclusive of Variable Dearness Allowance – VDA) for workers paid from the contingency fund, effective from April 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026. Since VDA is already included in the notified wages, no additional VDA is payable. The revised rates will remain in force until new rates are issued, and if any employee is already receiving higher wages, such wages will not be reduced but adjusted against future revisions.
The notification also clarifies wage calculation and payment conditions. Monthly wages are to be paid at the end of the calendar month, and employees on monthly wages are entitled to one day of paid leave per week. For posts without separately approved wages, daily wages will be calculated by dividing the monthly rate by 26, while one-day wages (for specific purposes) will be calculated by dividing the monthly rate by 30.
These wage rates are applicable across the district for employees receiving salaries from the contingency fund during the specified period. However, they do not apply to the Public Works Department, Irrigation Department, and Public Health Engineering Department, which will follow separate minimum wage rates notified under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
For implementation, the state has been divided into Zones A, B, and C. Zone A includes Raipur municipal areas and nearby industrial regions, Zone B covers areas outside Raipur district, and Zone C includes the remaining areas of Raipur district. The classification of workers is illustrative, and employees not specifically listed will be paid wages equivalent to similar categories as per the earlier classification notification dated March 29, 2017.
