The Government of Chhattisgarh on April 22, 2026, notified regarding the revised Minimum Wages Rates for Daily Wage Workers in Dantewada District.
The following has been stated:
• The District Administration, South Bastar Dantewada, has revised minimum wage rates for daily wage workers and employees engaged in various government departments based on the provisions of the Chhattisgarh Financial Code and the revised minimum wages and Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) notified by the Labour Commissioner, Chhattisgarh, effective from April 1, 2026. The revised wage rates will remain applicable till September 30, 2026, and will continue until further revision. The notified rates are based on 8 working hours, while part-time employees will receive wages in proportion to their working hours. The order excludes employees covered under regular pay rules, departments with separate wage structures, and certain workers in PWD, PHED, and Irrigation Departments whose wages are fixed by divisional committees.
• The notification clarifies that the revised minimum wages already include Variable Dearness Allowance, and no separate VDA will be payable. Existing wages higher than the revised rates will not be reduced. Monthly wage employees will be entitled to one paid weekly holiday.
• The notification prescribes category-wise wage rates for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers across scheduled employments and government departments. For example, unskilled workers will receive monthly wages of ₹10,882 and daily wages of ₹419 under Scheduled Employment, while highly skilled workers will receive monthly wages of ₹13,092 and daily wages of ₹504.
• Separate rates have also been specified for agricultural labourers. Since Dantewada district does not fall under Zone “A” or “B”, the wages applicable for Zone “C” will apply throughout the district.
