The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) on May 07, 2026, issued a notification regarding Sunset review investigation concerning anti-dumping duty imposed on the imports of “Phthalic Anhydride” from China PR, Korea RP, and Thailand.
The following has been stated:-
•The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) conducted a sunset review on imports of Phthalic Anhydride from China and South Korea and found continued dumping causing injury to the domestic industry.
•The investigation revealed that dumped imports were suppressing domestic prices, causing financial losses, and threatening investments made by Indian producers.
•Domestic manufacturers, including IG Petrochemicals and Thirumalai Chemical Industries, had invested around ₹1,900 crore in capacity expansion after earlier anti-dumping measures.
•The Authority concluded that expiry of duties would likely lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury due to surplus capacities and low-priced exports from subject countries.
•Accordingly, DGTR recommended continuation of anti-dumping duty on imports of Phthalic Anhydride from China PR and Korea RP for a further period of five years.
