Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Government of Karnataka on May 04, 2026, issued the Profession Tax Return Filing Exemption Notification for Specified Enrolled Persons.

The following has been stated:

• The Govt. has exempted certain categories of enrolled persons from filing profession tax returns with immediate effect, subject to submission of prescribed supporting documents. The exempted categories include senior citizens above 60 years, owners of up to two transport vehicles, holders of permits for up to two taxis or three-wheeler goods/passenger vehicles, persons with disabilities of at least 40% permanent disability, individuals with a single child who have undergone sterilisation, ex-servicemen, charitable hospitals below taluk level (excluding Bengaluru, Ramanagara and Bengaluru Rural districts), shorthand and typewriting institutes, and specified educational institutions. 

• Relevant proof, such as government-issued age proof, disability certificates, affidavits, armed forces identity cards, income tax registration certificates, and recognition certificates from education authorities, shall be furnished through the E-Prerana portal. 

• The notification further clarifies that entities covered under serial numbers 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 need to submit documents only once, while vehicle-related categories under serial numbers 2 and 3 shall furnish declarations annually.
