The Government of Uttar Pradesh, on April 24, 2026, notified the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, further to amend the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019.
The following has been stated:-
•The Government of Uttar Pradesh amended Schedule-2 of the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019, to include Metro University as a new private university.
•The sponsoring body for the university is Sunhill Health Care Pvt. Ltd..
•The amendment inserts the university at Serial No. 53 in Schedule-2 of the Act.
•The State Government has also been empowered to issue orders to remove implementation difficulties related to the establishment of the university.
•Such orders may modify, add, or omit provisions of the principal Act for up to two years from the commencement of the Ordinance, and must be placed before both Houses of the State Legislature.
It shall come into force with effect from April 24, 2026.
