EHS ComplianceThe Government of Meghalaya, on May 11, 2026, issued a notification regarding the Summer Fire Safety Advisory for Residential and Commercial Establishments.

The following has been stated:-

•Meghalaya Fire & Emergency Services issued a summer fire safety advisory for residential and commercial establishments to prevent fire accidents during extreme heat conditions.

•The advisory stresses safe electrical practices, including avoiding overloaded sockets, using standard electrical equipment, ensuring proper ventilation, and conducting regular inspections of wiring and appliances.

•Residents and commercial establishments have been advised to maintain functional fire protection systems, keep exits unobstructed, safely store LPG cylinders and inflammable materials, and avoid temporary electrical connections.

•Commercial establishments are required to conduct fire audits, employee training, mock drills, and regular servicing of transformers, DG sets, HVAC systems, and other high-risk electrical installations.

•The advisory also emphasizes public awareness, emergency preparedness, and careful handling of ignition sources such as cigarettes, candles, and cooking appliances to reduce fire risks during the summer season.
