Labour ComplianceThe Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, on May 11, 2026, issued directions for Electrical Safety Measures during Heat Wave Conditions.

The following has been stated:-

•The authorities directed all electrical generation, transmission, and distribution entities in the National Capital Territory of Delhi to implement immediate safety measures to protect electrical workmen from extreme heat wave conditions.

•The instructions include ensuring proper workplace ventilation, displaying heat wave safety information, preventing direct sunlight exposure, and providing emergency preparedness, including fire-fighting equipment.

•Strict compliance with electrical safety norms has been mandated, including proper earthing, use of circuit breakers and Residual Current Devices (RCDs), safe wiring practices, and adherence to the National Electrical Code.

•Owners of electrical installations with connected load above 250 KW must appoint an Electrical Safety Officer (ESO) for periodic inspections and safety compliance under the Central Electricity Authority Regulations, 2023.

•The order also emphasizes worker training, safe handling of electrical equipment, prohibition of inflammable storage near electrical systems, and continuous compliance with electrical safety regulations during heat wave conditions.
