The Energy Department, Government of Rajasthan, on April 23, 2026, issued a notification under Regulation 34 of the Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2023, superseding earlier notifications on certification requirements for generating units. The notification applies to conventional as well as renewable energy-based electricity generating units.
The State Government has provided that generating units having capacity up to 1 MVA may either be self-certified by the owner, supplier, or consumer, or certified by an Electrical Inspector, depending on the option exercised through the departmental portal. For generating units having capacity exceeding 1 MVA, certification by an Electrical Inspector through the departmental portal has been made mandatory.
The notification further stipulates that suppliers may energize electrical installations only after receipt of the prescribed self-certification or certification by the Electrical Inspector through the departmental portal. It has also been clarified that all other requirements under the Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2023 and subsequent amendments shall continue to apply.
