The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, on May 12, 2026, issued directions restricting the shifting, exchange, or reallocation of IT-related equipment within CDSCO Headquarters without prior approval of the Administration and IT Cell. The circular was issued after instances were observed where desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, UPS systems, networking devices, and other peripherals were moved between offices or sections without authorization, causing difficulties in inventory management, asset tracking, network configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
Under the revised instructions, any requirement for shifting or replacement of IT equipment must be submitted in writing through the DDA or Section Officer (Administration). The IT Cell has been entrusted with verifying and updating inventory records and technical configurations before any movement of equipment is carried out. The circular aims to strengthen inventory control, ensure network security, and maintain the smooth functioning of the organization’s IT systems.
The circular further provides that non-compliance with these directions may result in administrative action, and responsibility for any loss, damage, or operational disruption arising from unauthorized movement of IT assets shall rest with the concerned official or section. All officers and officials of CDSCO(HQ) have been directed to comply with the instructions with immediate effect.
