The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APEC) on May 05, 2026, issued directions to DISCOMs to bill Homestays and Bed & Breakfast (B&B) establishments registered with APTDC under the domestic electricity tariff category.
The directions were issued pursuant to a request received from the Energy Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, referring to G.O.Ms. No.32 dated October 08, 2025, issued under the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy FY2024-29. The policy aims to encourage the development of Homestays and B&B establishments, particularly in eco-sensitive rural and urban areas, to promote authentic local tourism experiences and support local communities.
APERC stated that, notwithstanding anything contained in the RST Order for FY2026-27 regarding tariff categories, the Commission has accepted the request of the Government of Andhra Pradesh and directed DISCOMs to implement domestic category billing for eligible Homestays and B&B establishments from the date of the order.
