Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Ministry of Finance (MoF) on May 12, 2026, amended an older notification No. 45/2025-Customs, dated October 24, 2025, related to Customs Duty Rates on Precious Metal Goods, 2026.

The following has been stated:-

•The Central Government has amended Notification No. 45/2025-Customs under the Customs Act, 1962, and Customs Tariff Act, 1975, to revise customs duty rates on specified precious metal goods. 

•The notification increases the duty rate from 5% to 10% for several tariff items listed under Serial Numbers 192 to 197 and 203. 

•A new entry, S. No. 200A, has been inserted imposing a 10% duty on spent catalysts or ash containing precious metals, effective till March 31, 2027. 

•Further, S. No. 202 has been substituted to prescribe a 10% customs duty on specified goods under tariff headings relating to precious metals and related products. 

•These amendments have been issued in the public interest and published in the Gazette of India.

The notification shall come into force on May 13, 2026.
