The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) notified regarding the Transition to Mandatory Online Application Process for BIS FMCS Licence with AIR Nomination Requirement.
Applicants seeking a licence under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS) must submit a duly filled application form along with all required documents, ensuring completeness as per the prescribed checklist. A key requirement is the nomination of an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR) through the specified nomination form, who will act on behalf of the foreign manufacturer in India.
The application, along with requisite fees, supporting documents (in duplicate), and the AIR nomination form, is to be submitted to the FMCD, BIS Headquarters, New Delhi. Applicants are strongly advised to carefully review their submissions and verify that all documentation requirements are fulfilled to avoid deficiencies.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has also enabled online submission of FMCS applications through the Manakonline portal, supported by a detailed user manual to guide applicants through the process. This digital mode is intended to streamline application handling and improve efficiency.
It is important to note that offline (hard copy) applications will be accepted only until May 31, 2026, after which, effective June 1, 2026, only online applications will be considered. Applicants are responsible for any delays caused by incomplete submissions, delayed responses to queries, or pending payments.
