The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on May 13, 2026, issued clarifications on Interest Subvention Support for Pre- and PostShipment Export Credit under Export Promotion Mission - Niryat Protsahan.
The Directorate reviewed representations from industry stakeholders regarding difficulties in implementing the UIN system under the Interest Subvention Scheme of the Export Promotion Mission (EPM). These challenges stemmed from the transition from the earlier UDIN framework to UIN, which required onboarding multiple lending institutions, aligning internal banking workflows, and developing technical systems for validation and claim processing. As a result, banks faced operational issues, leading to inconsistencies in implementation.
Specifically, concerns were raised in cases where UDIN had been generated under the earlier scheme but the export credit was disbursed on or after January 2, 2026. Additionally, there were instances where loans were disbursed after this date without completing the UIN generation process beforehand. These procedural gaps created uncertainty for exporters and lenders in availing interest subvention benefits.
After examining the matter, the Directorate has decided to provide a one-time relaxation to address these issues and promote ease of doing business. A special window has been introduced to allow generation of UIN for loans disbursed during FY 2025–26 (on or after January 2, 2026), including cases linked to earlier UDINs and those where UIN was not generated prior to disbursal.
All scheduled commercial banks and lending institutions participating in the scheme have been directed to implement these amendments immediately and ensure uniform application across the system to avoid further discrepancies.
