MCX issued a notification regarding a modification in the Steel Rebar Futures ContractThe Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) on May 13, 2026, issued a notification regarding a modification in the Steel Rebar Futures Contract.
The following has been stated:
In accordance with the Rules, Bye-Laws, and Business Rules of the Exchange, members are informed that the Exchange has revised the contract specifications relating to Additional Delivery Centres for the STEEL REBAR Futures Contract.
Earlier, the approved additional delivery centres included Thane district in Maharashtra, Palwal district in Haryana (NCR), Chennai district in Tamil Nadu, and Kolkata district in West Bengal. Under the revised specifications, only the Thane district in Maharashtra will continue as the additional delivery centre.
The provision under the Securities and Exchange Board of India circular dated April 16, 2021, permitting exchanges to accredit warehouses of a Warehouse Service Provider (WSP) within a 100 km radius of delivery centres, will remain applicable. The revised contract specifications will apply to contracts expiring from June 2026 onwards, and fresh positions in these contracts will be permitted from May 25, 2026. The modified trading parameters and contract specifications will be binding on all Exchange members and their clients from the effective date.
Members are also advised to refer to circulars issued by Multi Commodity Exchange Clearing Corporation Limited for details regarding applicable margins, delivery, and settlement procedures. Trading in the contracts will continue to be allowed up to 5:00 PM on the date of contract expiry.
