The Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoL&E) on March 30, 2026, issued a notification regarding the revision of Variable Dearness Allowance and Minimum Wages for Agricultural Workers.
The following has been stated:-
•The Ministry of Labour & Employment has revised the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for agricultural workers effective from April 01, 2026.
•The revision is based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers from 413.52 to 424.80 (Base 2016=100), resulting in a rise of 11.28 points.
•Updated VDA rates have been fixed for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers across Areas A, B, and C, with amounts rounded up to the next rupee.
•The revised minimum wages now include both the basic wage and VDA, with total daily wages ranging from ₹478 for unskilled workers in Area C to ₹694 for highly skilled workers in Area A.
•The notification has been issued under Section 69(2) of the Code on Wages, 2019 and will remain effective until further orders are issued under the Code.
