class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The Government of Karnataka, on May 8, 2026, issued draft Karnataka Excise (Possession, Transport, Import and Export of Intoxicants) (Amendment) Rules, 2026 to amend the Karnataka Excise (Possession, Transport, Import and Export of Intoxicants) Rules, 1967. The draft rules have been published for public objections and suggestions, which may be submitted within seven days from the date of publication in the official Gazette.
The proposed amendment seeks to modify Rule 6(1) of the 1967 Rules by inserting a reference to “Form 2-C” issued under the Karnataka Excise (Distillery and Warehouse) Rules, 1967. This amendment expands the existing provision to recognize licences issued for Distillery Factory Out-lets introduced under the Karnataka Excise (Distillery and Warehouse) (Second Amendment) Rules, 2026.
The amendment is intended to align the possession, transport, import and export framework with the newly proposed regulatory structure governing Distillery Factory Out-lets, thereby enabling lawful possession and sale of liquor through such licensed facilities within distillery premises.
