Industry Specific ComplianceThe Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) on May 12, 2026 cancelled the registration of the cosmetic product “Elementre - MD Peel-Tri AHA” imported by M/s Glow Global LLP under Registration Certificate No. RC/COS-005139 issued under the Cosmetics Rules, 2020. The order was passed after scrutiny revealed that the product contained a total Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) concentration of 60% with a pH range of 1.5 to 2.5, despite claims of “patient tolerance,” raising concerns regarding safety and misleading claims.

CDSCO observed that the product violated Rule 36 and Rule 39(1) of the Cosmetics Rules, 2020, which prohibit misleading claims and mandate compliance with prescribed quality and safety standards for imported cosmetics. A show cause notice had earlier been issued to the firm on April 11, 2025, seeking clarification regarding ingredient concentration, pH level, and labeling practices.

After considering the response submitted by the importer, the Central Licensing Authority concluded that the product was in contravention of the Cosmetics Rules, 2020 and provisions of Sections 10(ee) and 10-A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Accordingly, the registration certificate for the product was cancelled with immediate effect from the date of the order.
