The Women and Child Development Department, Government of Maharashtra on May 14, 2026, notified regarding the Empanelment of Officers for Inspection of Workplaces under the POSH Act, 2013.
The following has been stated:
• The Government has issued a circular authorising various officers and employees to inspect establishments for effective implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act). The circular aims to strengthen enforcement of the law by ensuring that organisations constitute Internal Committees, address complaints properly, and comply with reporting requirements.
• District Officers, Women and Child Development officials, Child Development Project Officers, Protection Officers, Supervisors, and other designated authorities have been empowered to conduct inspections across government, semi-government, and private establishments.
• The State Nodal Officer and Women & Child Development Department will supervise inspection procedures and coordination.
• The circular also states that penal action under Section 26 of the POSH Act may be taken against establishments where violations or deficiencies are found during inspections.
