The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on May 15, 2026, issued revision of Tariff Values for Edible Oils, Precious Metals, and Areca Nuts under Customs Notification.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), under the powers of the Customs Act, 1962, has amended Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) by substituting revised tariff value tables for certain imported goods. These changes update the reference tariff values used for the purpose of customs duty calculation.
Under the revised Table-1, new tariff values have been specified for edible oils such as crude palm oil, RBD palm oil, palmolein, and crude soybean oil, along with brass scrap. Table-2 updates tariff values for precious metals, including gold (USD 1508 per 10 grams) and silver (USD 2810 per kilogram), with specific applicability conditions and clarifications regarding the forms of these metals. Table-3 retains the tariff value of areca nuts at USD 9155 per metric tonne, with no change.
These revised tariff values are intended to reflect prevailing international prices and ensure appropriate valuation for import duty purposes. The notification comes into effect from May 16, 2026.
