The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on May 13, 2026, issued the Central Motor Vehicles (Seventh Amendment) Rules, 2026, to further amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
The following has been stated:
• In rule 93, in sub-rule (1), in clause (A),
o (a) in sub-clause (VI), under the sub-heading "Motor vehicle Category N", after the sixth proviso, the following proviso shall be inserted, namely: - “Provided also that in case of a motor vehicle of category N2 or N3 engaged in transportation of white goods or photovoltaic solar panels or modules packaged and stacked on the load body in multiple layers, the overall height of the motor vehicle shall not exceed 4.50 meters.”;
o (b) in sub-clause (VII), under the sub-heading "Trailers Category T" after the fourth proviso, the following proviso shall be inserted, namely: - “Provided also that in case of a truck trailer or tractor trailer or Semi-trailer engaged in transportation of white goods or photovoltaic solar panels or modules packaged and stacked on the load body in multiple layers, the overall height of the motor vehicle shall not exceed 4.50 meters.”.
