The Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) on May 15, 2026, notified regarding the restriction on fuelling of vehicles without a valid PICC in NCP.
The following has been stated:
• It has issued the direction imposing restrictions on refuelling vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) across the NCR to curb vehicular emissions and improve air quality. Under the direction, fuel stations in Delhi-NCR will be required to deny fuel to vehicles that do not possess a valid PUCC, with implementation to be supported through digital verification systems, enforcement mechanisms, and coordination among transport departments, traffic police, and pollution control authorities.
• The measure is aimed at strengthening compliance with emission norms, reducing pollution from poorly maintained vehicles, and enhancing monitoring of in-use vehicle emissions in the region.
• The direction forms part of CAQM’s broader strategy to address worsening air pollution in Delhi-NCR through stricter regulatory and enforcement measures.
