Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Industries, Energy, Labour and Mining, Government of Maharashtra, on May 11, 2026, issued a notification regarding Maharashtra Electricity Duty Exemption for Green Hydrogen Projects.

The following has been stated:-

•The Government of Maharashtra has announced electricity duty exemptions under the Maharashtra Electricity Duty Act, 2016, to support the Green Hydrogen Policy, 2023.

•Standalone renewable energy plants producing Green Hydrogen and its derivatives will receive a 10-year exemption from electricity duty from the date of production commencement.

•Hybrid renewable energy plants and the first three Anchor and Experimental Anchor Units will be eligible for an extended 15-year exemption period.

•Eligible projects must secure an Eligibility Certificate based on certification by the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency, while the Industries, Energy, Labour, and Mining Department will manage the refund process.
