The Government of Himachal Pradesh, on May 11, 2026, issued the Draft Nagar Panchayat Sunni Outdoor Advertisement Bye-laws 2025.
The following has been stated: -
•The Nagar Panchayat Sunni has notified the Outdoor Advertisement Bye-laws 2025 to regulate and control advertisements within its jurisdiction under the Himachal Pradesh Municipal Act, 1994.
•The bye-laws define various forms of advertisements, including digital displays, hoardings, vehicle advertisements, illuminated boards, and signage, while establishing an Advertisement Regulation Committee for oversight.
•Strict restrictions have been imposed on hoardings near highways, forests, water sources, sharp turns, trees, and ecologically sensitive areas to ensure road safety and environmental protection.
•Advertisements exceeding 16 square meters, rooftop displays without permission, and defacement of public property have been prohibited.
•The regulations also prescribe safety norms to prevent advertisements from distracting drivers, imitating traffic signals, or obstructing visibility on roads.
•Additionally, all outdoor advertisements will require written permission from the Secretary of Nagar Panchayat Sunni, except for certain exempted categories such as government notices, election-related displays, and business signboards.
The objections/suggestions may be submitted within 30 days.
