EHS ComplianceThe Chandigarh Administration, on May 18, 2026, issued a clarification denying rumours and fake news circulating on social media regarding the alleged imposition of temporary fuel rationing limits at petrol pumps in Chandigarh. The administration stated that no orders have been issued restricting the sale of petrol or diesel, including the purported limits of ₹500 for two-wheelers and ₹1500 for four-wheelers.

Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, clarified that there is adequate availability of petrol and diesel across the city. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have confirmed that sufficient fuel stocks are available and that supply operations are continuing smoothly without disruption.

The administration further urged citizens not to panic or engage in unnecessary bulk purchasing of fuel, stating that all retail fuel outlets are adequately stocked and replenishment is being regularly ensured. The Chandigarh Administration is continuously monitoring the situation in coordination with the concerned Oil Marketing Companies to maintain uninterrupted fuel availability across the city.
