The Department of General Administration, Goa, on May 19, 2026, issued a notification regarding the declaration of a paid holiday for the Goa Panchayat Bye-Elections.
The following has been stated:-
•The Government of Goa has declared Sunday, May 24, 2026, as a paid holiday for voters participating in the bye-elections to specified wards of Village Panchayats in North Goa and Kushavati districts.
•The declaration has been issued under Section 40A(1) of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994.
•The paid holiday will apply in addition to the holidays already notified by the General Administration Department.
•It covers workers of commercial, industrial, government, and other establishments, including daily wage and casual workers who are eligible voters in the concerned bye-elections.
