The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), on May 19, 2026, issued Notification No. 47/2026-Customs (N.T.) amending Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) dated August 3, 2001, under section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. The notification substitutes Table-1, Table-2 and Table-3 prescribing tariff values for specified imported goods including edible oils, precious metals, brass scrap and areca nuts.
Under the revised tables, tariff values for crude palm oil, RBD palm oil, crude palmolein, RBD palmolein, crude soya bean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver and areca nuts have largely been retained without change. The tariff value for crude palm oil remains at USD 1205 per metric tonne, crude soya bean oil at USD 1256 per metric tonne, brass scrap at USD 7433 per metric tonne, gold at USD 1508 per 10 grams, silver at USD 2455 per kilogram and areca nuts at USD 9155 per metric tonne.
The notification specifies that these tariff values shall come into force with effect from May 20, 2026. The revised tariff values are relevant for computation of customs duty on imported goods covered under the notification.
