EHS ComplianceThe Labour Department, Govt. of Haryana on May 20, 2026, issued the Advisory on Heat-Wave and Preparatory Action for the Heat-Wave season – 2026.

The following has been stated:

• Authorities have directed all concerned departments and officials to take immediate preventive measures to protect workers from severe heat wave conditions. Employers, industries, factories, mines, and construction companies have been advised to implement safety measures such as rescheduling working hours, especially during peak heat periods, providing adequate drinking water, rest areas, cooling facilities, emergency ice packs, and heat illness prevention materials.

• Employers have also been instructed to allow flexibility in work schedules by slowing down work pace during heat stress, assigning heavy work during cooler parts of the day, and increasing rest breaks during extreme temperatures. Factories and mines are advised to provide nearby rest areas and ensure that workers are informed about the dangers of excessive heat and humidity and the preventive measures.

Authorities have been asked to conduct awareness campaigns at labour chowks and public places, and display posters and banners highlighting heat wave safety precautions and emergency contact details.

• Further, officials have been instructed to sensitize employers, industrial associations, workers’ unions, and workers regarding heat wave preparedness and ensure regular coordination with district administrations and health departments for monitoring and preparedness activities.
