The Department of Legal Metrology, Delhi, on May 11, 2026, issued the Draft Delhi Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Amendment Rules, 2026, to further amend the Delhi Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011.
The following has been stated:-
•The Delhi Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Amendment Rules, 2026, introduce major changes to licensing procedures for manufacturers, repairers, and dealers of weights and measures.
•Licences will now be issued on a self-declaration basis without prior inspection and will remain valid indefinitely unless suspended or cancelled.
•The requirement for licence renewal has been removed across the rules and schedules. Manufacturers repairing their own products outside the state and individuals repairing their own equipment are exempt from obtaining a repairer’s licence.
•Existing licences issued before the amendment will remain valid until their expiry, after which fresh licences must be obtained under the amended rules.
