The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), on May 15, 2026, notified a new telecommunication equipment standard under the Telecommunication Act 2023 read with the Telecommunications (Framework to Notify Standards, Conformity Assessment and Certification) Rules, 2025.
Through the notification, the Central Government has notified the standard “TEC 21130:2025 – Generic Requirements 5G Dual Core” for telecommunication equipment. The notified standard has been issued in exercise of powers under Section 19 of the Telecommunication Act, 2023.
The notification states that the standard shall come into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette and will form part of the regulatory framework governing standards, conformity assessment and certification requirements for telecom equipment in India.
