The Government of Goa, on May 21, 2026, issued a Scheme to provide financial assistance to registered Organizations/Government Organizations/ /Non-Government Organizations/Trust/Institutions for setting up a Sheltered Workshop for Persons with Disabilities.
The following has been stated:-
•The Government of Goa has notified the “Divyang Kaushal Yojana” to provide financial assistance for setting up sheltered workshops aimed at skill development and employment generation for persons with disabilities.
•The scheme is applicable across Goa and seeks to empower persons above 18 years of age through vocational training and supervised work opportunities for independent living.
•Registered organizations, NGOs, trusts, and institutions working in disability empowerment with at least three years’ experience and a minimum enrollment of 20 persons with disabilities are eligible to apply.
•The scheme provides operational grants up to ₹2.90 lakh per month along with a one-time grant of ₹10 lakh for infrastructure, machinery, furniture, and raw materials.
•Government reimbursement will cover 75% of eligible expenditure on submission of bills, vouchers, and utilization certificates, while the remaining 25% must be borne by the organization.
•Applications will be scrutinized by a sanctioning committee headed by the Minister for the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, and suggestions on the scheme have been invited by the Government.
