The Forest and Wildlife Department, Govt. of Kerala on May 19, 2026, notified regarding the Tree Protection Area under the Kerala Preservation of Trees Act.
The following has been stated:
• The notification prohibits the cutting, uprooting, burning, or destruction of trees in a specified area in Kuthanur-II Village, Alathur Taluk, Palakkad District.
• The protected area covers approximately 3.6342 hectares in Survey No. 220/6 (part), falling under the jurisdiction of the Forest Tribunal, Palakkad and Nenmara Forest Division. Trees in the notified area can only be removed if they pose a danger to life or property, or if they are dead, diseased, or wind-fallen.
