The Ministry of Fisheries Animal Husbandry and Dairying, on May 15, 2026, issued a notification appointing July 1, 2026 as the effective date for enforcement of specific provisions of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 relating to the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009.
The notification has been issued in exercise of powers under sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act 2026. It specifically brings into force serial number 65 and the corresponding entries in the Schedule to the Act, insofar as they relate to the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act 2009.
Accordingly, the amendments introduced under the Jan Vishwas framework concerning the animal disease control legislation shall become operational with effect from July 1, 2026.
