Secretarial ComplianceThe Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on May 25, 2026, issued a Consultation Paper on Ease of Doing Business - Framework for strike prices of options contracts.

The following has been stated:-

•The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has released a consultation paper proposing a standardized framework for the introduction and management of strike prices for options contracts across derivatives segments.

•The proposal aims to improve ease of trading by ensuring predictable availability of option strikes, especially during periods of high intraday market volatility.

•Stock exchanges will be required to maintain adequate In-The-Money and Out-of-The-Money strike prices, conduct daily reviews of available strikes, and remove contracts far from prevailing market prices.

•The framework also allows exchanges to introduce new strike prices intraday without requiring system changes for brokers or market participants during live trading.

•Exchanges may decide operational aspects such as strike intervals and number of contracts based on liquidity and market conditions, while publishing and periodically reviewing the framework in consultation with stakeholders.

•Public comments on the proposal have been invited by SEBI until June 15, 2026.

The detailed notification is given in the document below.
