The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on April 21, 2026, notified regarding the extension of RuPay PMJDY Insurance Program for FY 2026-27 and change in Insurer.
The following has been stated:
• It has extended the RuPay Insurance Program for Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) RuPay debit cardholders for the financial year 2026-27. The scheme continues to provide accidental insurance coverage to eligible PMJDY RuPay card users, with insurance benefits linked to active card usage and compliance with prescribed eligibility conditions.
• Under the program, PMJDY RuPay cardholders remain eligible for accidental death and permanent total disability insurance benefits, subject to successful financial or non-financial transactions being carried out within the prescribed period before the accident date. The insurance cover is available globally and claims are settled in Indian Rupees. The program also specifies eligibility conditions, documentation requirements, exclusions, claim procedures and timelines for settlement.
• The scheme continues with designated insurance partners appointed by NPCI, while participating banks are required to facilitate awareness, claim processing and customer support. The circular also includes annexures relating to claims procedures, FAQs, claim forms and declaration formats for PMJDY cardholders.
