The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on May 26, 2026, issued a notification regarding No Blanket Extension for ALMM List-II Deadline Beyond June 1, 2026.
The following has been stated:
It has been announced that there will be no blanket extension of the deadline for implementing ALMM List-II for solar PV cells beyond June 01, 2026. Projects commissioned before this date under Net-Metering and Open Access categories will remain exempt, while projects commissioned after the deadline must comply with ALMM List-II rules.
However, to protect investments already made, the government will provide case-by-case relief for projects where substantial progress has already been achieved, such as land acquisition, financial closure, connectivity approvals, or module installation.
Developers can submit claims with documentary proof through a dedicated NISE portal by June 30, 2026, after which an Expert Committee will evaluate the requests individually. Further, the ministry also clarified that residential consumers participating in the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana “Give It Up” campaign will continue under existing guidelines until March 31, 2027. The decision aims to ensure policy stability, strengthen domestic solar manufacturing, and maintain investor confidence in India’s renewable energy sector.
