Government of Punjab Declares Holiday on May 28, 2026 for Eid-ul-Zuha

Labour ComplianceThe Government of Punjab, through its Personnel Department, on May 25, 2026, issued a notification revising the gazetted holiday for Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) from May 27, 2026 (Wednesday) to May 28, 2026 (Thursday). The change has been made following the Government of India, Department of Personnel and Training Resolution No. 12/3/2023-JCA dated May 22, 2026 regarding the observance of the festival. 

Accordingly, May 28, 2026 (Thursday) has been declared a gazetted holiday for all Government offices, Boards, Corporations, and Government Educational Institutions in the State of Punjab. The holiday has also been declared under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 for purposes relating to negotiable instruments and banking operations. 

The notification was issued under the authority of the Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Shri K.A.P. Sinha, and supersedes the earlier declaration scheduling the Bakrid holiday on May 27, 2026.
