Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Commodity Clearing Limited (NCCL), on May 25, 2026, issued a circular prescribing the applicable Risk Management Fee for the newly launched Mumbai Rainfall Futures Contract bearing symbol “RAINMUMBAI”. The circular has been issued with reference to the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) Circular No. NCDEX/TRADING-019/2026 dated May 20, 2026 relating to the launch of the rainfall futures contract.

As per the existing framework under NCCL Circular No. NCCL/FINANCE-003/2021 dated March 9, 2021, a Risk Management Fee of ₹5 per lakh is ordinarily levied on the value of every fresh overnight open interest position created in commodity futures contracts and NCDEX AGRIDEX Futures Contracts. However, NCCL has decided to provide a concessional fee structure for the Mumbai Rainfall Futures Contract. Accordingly, the Risk Management Fee for the RAINMUMBAI Futures Contract shall be levied at ₹2.5 per lakh on the value of every fresh overnight open interest position up to September 30, 2026.

The circular further clarifies that with effect from October 1, 2026, the Risk Management Fee for the Mumbai Rainfall Futures Contract will revert to the standard rate of ₹5 per lakh on every fresh overnight open interest position created. NCCL has also reserved the right to amend the tariff structure, either wholly or partially, after notifying members.
