The Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX), on May 25, 2026, issued a circular modifying the contract specifications relating to Additional Delivery Centres for Steel Rebar Futures Contracts effective from the June 2026 expiry contracts onwards. Under the revised framework, Thane district in Maharashtra will remain the sole Additional Delivery Centre for Steel Rebar contracts, while the previously notified centres at Palwal (Haryana NCR), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), and Kolkata (West Bengal) have been removed.
The modification has been carried out in reference to earlier Exchange Circular No. MCX/TRD/280/2026 dated May 13, 2026 and in line with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Circular dated April 16, 2021, which permits exchanges to accredit warehouses of a Warehouse Service Provider (WSP) within a 100-kilometre radius of delivery centres. Consequently, accredited warehouses situated in Palwal, Chennai, and Kolkata will continue to be eligible for delivery only up to the May 2026 expiry contract.
The circular further directs beneficiary holders possessing Steel Rebar stock stored at MCXCCL-accredited warehouses located in the discontinued delivery centres to withdraw such goods after the May 2026 expiry. Members and their constituents have been advised to take note of the revised delivery framework and comply with the withdrawal requirements within the stipulated timelines.
