The National Dental Commission (NDC) on May 25, 2026, notified regarding the Stakeholder Consultation for Reform of Dental Curricula in India.
The following has been stated:
• NDC, through its Undergraduate & Postgraduate Dental Education Board (UG-PG DEB), has initiated a nationwide consultation process to reform the BDS and MDS curricula in India. The initiative aims to align dental education with national health priorities, evolving healthcare systems, technological advancements, and global standards while ensuring graduates are competent, ethical, research-oriented, and socially accountable.
• The consultation focuses on competency-based education, clinical and community training, research and emerging technologies, inter-professional collaboration, and integration with public health systems. Key objectives include identifying gaps in the current curriculum, defining core competencies for dental graduates and specialists, reforming assessment and internship structures, and improving employability and global competitiveness.
• Academic institutions, universities, faculty, students, specialty associations, healthcare organisations, industry partners, and public health experts have been invited to submit their suggestions through the official NDC website under the “What’s New” section. The last date for submission of inputs is June 30, 2026.
