The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on May 26, 2026, issued a notification regarding the release of FAQs on the New IIP Series with Base Year 2022-23 ahead of the June launch.
The following has been stated:-
•Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation will launch the new All India Index of Industrial Production (IIP) series with base year 2022-23 on June 01, 2026, replacing the existing 2011-12 series.
•The revised series expands coverage by including gas supply, water supply, sewerage, waste management, minor minerals, and rare earth minerals.
•The new IIP basket will contain 463 item groups, including 120 newly added products such as CCTV cameras, stents, aircraft parts, and vaccines.
•Separate indices will also be released for renewable and non-renewable electricity generation, fuel minerals, metallic and non-metallic minerals, and gas supply.
•The revision aims to better reflect structural and technological changes in the economy and align the index with international best practices.
•The IIP will continue to be released monthly by the National Statistics Office with a time lag of 28 days from the reference month.
