The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) on May 27, 2026, issued amendments in CDSL’s DP Operating Instructions, Chapter 11 – Penalties for violations, irregularities, non-compliances or delay in compliances.
The following has been stated:-
•Central Depository Services (India) Limited has amended Chapter 11 of its DP Operating Instructions following suggestions from the Securities and Exchange Board of India.
•The revised guidelines clarify that CISA penalties will not be included while calculating the ₹1 lakh penalty threshold for referring cases to the Member Committee.
•The amendment relates to penalties for violations, irregularities, non-compliances, or delays by Depository Participants (DPs).
•DPs have been advised to take note of the updated provisions and revised operating instructions.
