The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), on May 29, 2026, notified that the issuance of Preferential Certificates of Origin (CoO) for exports to Oman under the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (India-Oman CEPA) will be operational through the Trade Connect ePlatform from June 1, 2026. Exporters can apply for the certificate by selecting “India Oman CEPA (Agency Issued)”, and approved applications will result in the generation of an electronic CoO carrying a QR code, digital signature, issuing officer’s signature, and agency stamp.
DGFT stated that existing DGFT portal credentials can be used to access the Trade Connect platform without creating new accounts. Additional user accounts linked to the same IEC may also be created using Digital Signature Certificates (DSC). Exporters have been advised to ensure that their IEC details and user profile information are updated and that the user name matches the DSC records to facilitate seamless processing of eCoO applications.
The notice also introduced an online verification mechanism enabling authorities to verify the authenticity of issued CoOs through the Trade Connect platform using the CoO number. DGFT further informed stakeholders that support for the eCoO module will be available through its helpdesk, including toll-free assistance and email-based support.
