Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on June 01, 2026, issued First Press Release of All India Index of Industrial Production of New Series with Base Year 2022-23.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has revised the base year of the All-India Index of Industrial Production (IIP) from 2011–12 to 2022–23 to better reflect the current industrial structure. The revised series introduces an updated item basket, new weighting pattern, and expanded sectoral coverage. This revision is based on the recommendations of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC-IIP), whose report was released on May 25, 2026.

As per the new series (Base 2022–23=100), the IIP recorded a growth of 4.9% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, with the index rising to 118.9 from 113.1. Sector-wise, Manufacturing (6.2%), Electricity & Gas Supply (4.9%), and Water Supply & Waste Management (6.6%) showed positive growth, while Mining & Quarrying declined by 5.1%. Within manufacturing, 17 out of 23 industry groups recorded growth, led by motor vehicles, electrical equipment, and machinery sectors.

Under use-based classification, Capital Goods (16.0%), Intermediate Goods (7.7%), and Infrastructure/Construction Goods (7.1%) were the major growth drivers. Consumer durables and non-durables grew moderately at 4.3% and 2.8%, respectively, while Primary Goods saw marginal growth of 0.8%. Overall, the revised IIP series provides a more accurate and comprehensive measure of India’s industrial performance.
