EHS ComplianceThe Government of Telangana on April 13, 2026, issued a notification regarding the Telangana Fire Service (Amendment) Bill, 2026 – Key Reforms to Strengthen Fire Safety.

The following has been stated:-

•The proposed amendment to the Telangana Fire Service Act, 1999 aims to modernize fire safety regulations by expanding mandatory Fire NOC requirements to more building categories and introducing periodic audits, mock drills, and NOC renewals.

•It mandates the appointment of Fire Safety Managers, electrical safety certifications, and third-party fire safety audits to enhance preparedness and compliance. 

•The amendment empowers authorities to declare unsafe buildings, evacuate occupants, and seal hazardous premises until deficiencies are rectified. 

•It also establishes a dedicated Fire Prevention & Life Safety Fund and revises the fire safety fee framework to support modernization and enforcement. 

•Stronger penalties, criminal liability provisions, designated courts, and an appeals mechanism are proposed to improve accountability, deterrence, and effective fire safety governance across Telangana.
