The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on May 29, 2026, issued a notification regarding Aadhaar Authentication notified for Biogas Programme Benefits.
The following has been stated:-
•The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has mandated Aadhaar authentication or proof of Aadhaar possession for beneficiaries and turnkey workers seeking Central Financial Assistance under the Biogas Programme.
•Individuals without Aadhaar must apply for enrolment and may temporarily use specified alternative identity documents to access benefits.
•The notification also requires implementing agencies to facilitate Aadhaar enrolment, ensure widespread awareness, and provide alternative verification mechanisms where biometric authentication fails.
•Special safeguards have been introduced to ensure that children and genuine beneficiaries are not denied benefits due to Aadhaar-related issues.
•The notification takes effect from June 01, 2026.
