The Government of Haryana on June 01, 2026, issued the Haryana Travel Agents Registration and Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2026, further to amend the Haryana Travel Agents Registration and Regulation Act, 2025.
This shall come into effect from June 01, 2026.
The following has been amended:
• The amendment expands the definitions of “document,” “traveller,” and “travel agent” to cover physical and electronic travel-related documents, Indian citizens travelling abroad for purposes such as education, tourism, medical treatment, cultural activities, sports, and other non-employment purposes, and entities engaged in services such as visa and passport assistance, ticket booking, travel arrangements, educational counselling, medical tourism, travel promotion, and related overseas travel facilitation activities.
• The Act also empowers authorities to take action for violations of any provision of the legislation and introduces a new provision clarifying that the Act operates in addition to other applicable Central laws, with Central law prevailing in case of any inconsistency.
• The amendment aims to strengthen the regulation of travel agents, improve accountability, and provide greater protection to individuals seeking overseas travel-related services.
